Paint Grade Wood Gates and Stain Grade Wood Gates

We custom build two types of gates: Paint Grade Wood Gates and Stain Grade Wood Gates.

Here is a description of the differences between the two types of gates.

1) Paint Grade Wood Gates

If you are planning on painting your wood gate to match your house or surrounding wall, then it is best to have a Paint Grade Wood Gate. The benefits of a Paint Grade Gate are:

  • Cost Savings – Since the wood is being painted, we use an MDO wood for the inside panels rather than our more expensive Philippine Mahogany. The MDO wood is very strong and holds up extremely well in both hot and humid weather.
  • Time Savings – We can typically customize a paint grade gate faster because we do not need to go through the slower wood selection process like we do for stain grade gates.

2) Stain Grade Wood Gates

If you are planning on having a more natural looking gate that is stained, then you would want a Stain Grade Wood Gate that allows for the wood grain to show. The benefits of a Stain Grade Gate are:

  • High Quality – Since the wood grain will be shown, we go through a very careful and thorough wood selection process where we pick out only the wood from our inventory that is free of dents and imperfections.
  • Eco-Friendly – During our wood selection we strive to minimize wood waste. This is done both from a business perspective as well as a socially-conscious view since we want to do our best to be environmentally friendly and responsible.
